Koh Sang Woo
... creates vivid images of human figures with an approach that adopts painting, performance, documentation and traditional photographic techniques, by reversing the color and light in the exposure, he gives an unmistakable visual electricity and intense emotional charge. His work has been described as hyper-real romance for the digital age.  Koh has recently returned from a suite of solo museum exhibitions in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Seoul.  Patrajdas Contemporary is pleased to represent his work in N. America. MORE

In my work this romantic ideal of union with the natural world conflicts with our contemporary impact on the environment. These pieces are in part responses to environmental stressors including climate change, toxic pollution, and gm crops. In each case the union between man and nature is shown to be one of friction and discomfort with the disturbing implication that we too are vulnerable to being victimized by our destructive practices. Jaime Brett Treadwell
I am intrigued by my social surroundings ranging from small neighborhood cultural identities to grander differences among rural, urban, and suburban life. I find pleasure merging conflicting imagery, design, and color. I often use vivid cheerful colors to masquerade or obscure the realities within my paintings. Recent paintings suggest gypsy-like carnival communities isolated from others, prepared to travel, re-settle, and re-create their own versions of utopia. I fuse imagery from various time periods and cultures to construct a communal habitat for religious icons, fairies, cherubs, nymphs, dancers, and prostitutes that appear to live in a world of harmony. This current body of drawings are a combination of pen, ink, acrylic and colored pencil on mylar. The mylar creates a deep, milky, smooth, white space in which each form levitates and creates the illusion of existing in 3-dimensions. The drawings are created intuitively using only a simple symmetrical structure from which the lines and forms grow. MORE

Simone Kestelman
The sources of my inspiration were things that struck me.
It wasn’t necessarily the place that inspired me but the colors of the sunset, for example, that’s what really made an impression on me.
This inspiration is something that really comes out of the blue.
"Maybe I am really interested in talking about issues related directly to my life (something I have experienced), or some unacceptable situation: things that I wouldn't do to others and which leave me unable to understand how someone could do them ... MORE

Tm Gratkowski
Concept-driven and process-driven.
Tm composes layers of paper, much the way a painter builds up their canvas with layers of paint, to develop his imagery. He layers paper until he discovers a story paradigm or a subject matter that promotes a dialogue between the viewer and the art. At first, his work appears to convey complex and contrasting relationships, but upon closer examination, its composition highlights a complex subject matter as a matter for discussion. MORE
